Sunday morning, February 25, five club members from Poznań gathered at the Serbska street park place for a Sunday trip. Five MR2s in one place - a new Polish record!!! <grin>

We decided to spend this sunny, but frosty day on a abandoned military airport Bednary near Poznań. Just a quick pit stop at a fuel station (for fuel and... alcohol (we're in Poland, you know), in opposition to our Warsaw friends), and off we go! Unfortunately, due to lack of time one of us had to leave shortly after we crossed the city border. Kordian, leading the pack and not knowing of it, was for some time in vain trying to locate four 2's in his rear-view mirror, causing the first part of the trip to resemble a real "sunday" drive. As soon as his lack of knowledge had been revealed to him by others, the rest of the journey went in a "normal", sporty fashion.

The first thing we did after we had reached our destination, was making good use of the alcohol we'd bought (no, it's not what you think!). And then... well, for 3 of us it had been the first visit to the place, so the admiration for the space was clearly visible. And smelly too, when you judge from the amount of rubber left on the road. After the enthusiasm was finally replaced by sober thinking (I am still not reffering to the alcohol, but to the tire prices!), there was some time for discussions, while Kordian found some snowy parts to test his new set of winter tires (what a difference, hard to put into words!) Then, altogether, with serious, pro's-like looking faces, of course, we exchanged our opinions on different matters, women drivers included. Shortly after there was some more time to see what our babies can, as well as measure it in seconds. For some of us (mostly for the undersigned) it turned out clear that the gear change technique, or rather lack of it I should say, is crucial in such a situation. Well, at least we liked the idea, so we decided to do some official testing next time. And there's one more thing hard to describe; the sign and sound of emerging from the distance, in the glare of the winter day's sun, doing over 200 km/h in the emptiness of the abandoned airport Toyota MR2!!!

Well, and that was it. There was, of course, a cup of hot soup in a motel on our way home, with stories concentrating mostly on cars, MR2s to be specific. And one more unforgettable moment: Romek turning 180 degrees back in Poznań, using all three lanes most of the way, mostly sideways, to finally make it safely to the park place (no mercy for the gas pedal<grin>). Keep it up, Romek!
Thank you all for showing up, and till next time!
